Artist: April Stephenson

Location: Ottawa
Disciplines: Music, Visual Art

A classically trained musician, now enamored with the joys of releasing line, colour and texture on canvas, April expresses in visual art what caused her spirit to soar within the realm of sound.

Sweeping brushstrokes loaded with brilliant acrylic paint is her favoured approach to imaginatively placing and phrasing rolling contours of landscape.

Originally from Toronto but now adopted into the Ottawa Valley, April has a passion for gathering those who both love Jesus and creatively express His heart for people.

Revelation by April Stephenson, acrylic on canvas 40"x30" 2015

Revelation by April Stephenson, acrylic on canvas 40″x30″ 2015

This painting stems from a vision I had in Ottawa during a worship service, late 2015. In the spirit I saw an open tap in the heavenlies and leaves of revelation being released into Ottawa. The message came that God was releasing revelation into the Ottawa valley and that the opened tap I saw would not be closed.

The painting depicts leaves representing revelation falling into the Ottawa Valley. On the left are hills of the Lanark Highlands and distant, on the right are the Gatineau Hills.

I am overcome with awe at the hugeness, vastness of God’s nature seen through His creation.
This painting brings to mind David’s prayer recorded in 1 Chronicles 29: 11

‘Yours. O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth are yours.’

In the Midst of Challenge

In the Midst of Challange by April Stephenson

In the Midst of Challenge, acrylic on canvas, 40×30 inches, 2011
by April Stephenson

This piece was painted during a time of intense intercession for a friend who was in the midst of an unexpected health challenge. In that season of prayer I was reminded that Jesus promised never to leave us or forsake us. His love, faithfulness and strength carry us through the challenges we face, when we turn to Him.

The Harvest

The Harvest by April Stephenson

The Harvest from the Responding Series, acrylic on canvas, 30×24 inches, 2011
by April Stephenson

This piece is part of the Responding series.

I was impressed that there is coming a time of quick harvest when many people will respond to God calling them from the depths of discouragement, depression, pain and hopelessness. As they respond to Him, the presence of God will lift them out of the pit, into the river of life. They will leap with joy and love God fully.
