Where: Ottawa, ON., NBO Venues in Byward Market & Wellington W. (Hintonburg)
When: Saturday, September 22, 2012 – from Dusk to Dawn

Four of our members participated (at the invitation of Mark Stephenson, one of the project’s coordinators), in Ottawa’s first Nuit Blanche as a ‘Roving Artist’.  April Stephenson, Zofia Davison, Angelika LaHaise and Brenda Wright braved the elements to experience this unique, inaugural event.  Actually, although cooler temperatures prevailed, the clear, crisp air was pleasant for such a project.

‘Roving’ the Byward Market together, the group took in several of the arts venues opened to the public, documenting the sights and sounds of downtown Ottawa at night.  The streets were packed with people of all stripes; obviously, the majority typical of the various arts genres represented – artists, musicians, dancers, dramatic actors, writers, poets.  The atmosphere, bursting with creativity and excitement warmed the hearts and souls of all who attended.

The AATG foursome joined with a larger group of artists organized by Laurie Foster and Mark Stephenson known as “Sketch Nuit Blanche.”  Mark designed and created a very attractive and unique pendant NBO lighted identity badge which was worn by the artists.  These glowing badges attracted the interest of passersby, igniting much interest in the project.

You may view pictures of some of the participating ‘Sketch NBO’ artists’ work at http://sketchnbo.tumblr.com/

No doubt this will most likely become an annual event AATG members will want to watch for!  We encourage you to consider being a part of NBO next year.
